Scope of Practice for Dental Hygienists Broadened
Dental hygienists are now specifically allowed to apply fluorides, give instruction to patients on oral hygiene care, and supervise the oral hygiene care of a patient. Additionally, they may perform, with certain restrictions and limitations, several listed tasks without the physical presence or prior authorization of a dentist.
